3 Brooks Birding Blog

An Occasional Bird Report by Rob and Friends

The Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve has been my 'local patch' since moving to Bradley Stoke.
I've been birding the reserve to a greater or lesser extent since 1997.  This blog is not intended to be a daily or weekly account of sightings on the reserve, as my visits are not always that frequent, but I shall endeavour to post updates at least once a month.

The following pages show the birds recorded on the reserve each year.
There is also an overall page showing all birds recorded and comments regarding frequency of visits.
The key below is used on the individual pages to indicate the status of each bird.

Year Round Breeder   Breeds on the reserve and can be seen all year round - some species are more abundant than others.
Year Round Non Breeder   Does not breed on the reserve, but either breeds close by or can be seen throughout the year passing through.
Summer Breeder   Breeds on the reserve, but migrates for the winter.
Summer Non-breeder   Does not breed on the reserve, but breeds close by and migrates for the winter.
Passage Visitor Only   Does not breed on the reserve, but can be seen at migration times as birds travel to and from their breeding sites.
Winter Visitor Only   Visits the reserve during the winter, some may occasionally be seen at other times of year.
Sporadic   Only seen very occasionally and normally doesn't stay for any length of time.
